I'm surprised there was some talk of Al DiMeola & Paco DeLucia WITHOUT mentioning the father & mentor of these guys, simply the most intense, emotional, and technically unbelievable guitar player that ever touched the instrument: JOHN MCLAUGHLIN!!
Check out his Mahvishnu Orchestra's INNER MOUNTING FLAME (1973). You won't believe what your ears are hearing.
