Never in my life have I ever seen "gangs running wild in the streets". I've been to NYC, Oakland California; I live not far from Stockton. Yet not once in my life have I ever been timid or scared because I felt I needed a a firearm to protect myself. Not once.
Does the constitution need to be re-written? I don't know, you tell me. Last month twenty kids were brutally murdered. Yesterday a man killed a bus driver and kidnapped a five year old - he's still camped out. This morning two more kids were shot. This cannot be what they had in mind when they wrote the Constitution.

Guns are supposed to be stored away and not brought out until the day someone tries to oppress the American people.
Anyone who is taking the guns out and using them before that scenario is in the wrong. It's as simple as that. (sure, you're allowed to go hunting, but that has nothing to do with the purpose of the 2nd Amendment)
