What do you mean, stricter laws don't work when applied to criminals? You should think carefully about what you're saying I think, personally.
A criminal will ignore your attempts to lock your door and protect yourself, possessions and family. So why do you lock it?
You (nor anyone else) can say that strict gun control laws "don't work" unless you first of all say what you think it's supposed to do. And even then, you can't prove that assault weapons ban didn't prevent 100 shootings when it was in place. You simply can't. Because you don't know.
How many times would you have been robbed if your door wasn't locked when you left home? How many times has someone walked up to your house and car and tried the door before moving on? You don't know. You can't know.
It's simply foolish to assume that since some girl got killed that strict gun laws are useless. They're only useless in the sense that if someone wants to kill bad enough, they'll find a way. Nobody argues otherwise.
