Because twenty young school children were just brutally murdered?
Right now the general public is stunned that this was able to happen in a public school. Now the general public, who usually doesn't give too much thought to gun control or the 2nd amendment is up in arms because they value their kid's safety a lot more than they value the 2nd amendment.
