Your question to OP sound like you were asking him why even bother reinventing the wheel, blah blah blah.. I said it just annoyed me when people say that because it's hypocrisy. You started asking me about my tube site, I was just telling you.
And it took only a few hours because all it does is view source on a couple of sites, and parses the data to grab the info and then display it... Not rocket science and anybody who knows how to program can do it pretty quickly. Not my fault it takes you 7 hours to figure out how to pull data from a database.
