I get a ton of sadsack guys who email me that they have been sucked in and scammed by people using my models' photos - so I guess it's possible Te'o is a victim but he would have to be awfully stupid.

Read the whole article. I'm left to conclude that Teo either was extremely naive and told some lies (meeting her after the Stanford game) to the media to perpetuate the relationship or he was in on the hoax with a friend. Deadspin did some amazing detective work to piece together the timeline, but there wasn't much info regarding phone calls I'm assuming had to have occurred between Teo and the fake persona. Surely finding out who owned that phone line would shed some light on the female that participated.
