You think his wife left him because he defended his family? No. She left him because of the #1 reason for divorce, Money. Him being in jail and losing his job, racking up a huge amount of legal fee's caused them to lose their house. It was so much stress in their relationship it destroyed their marriage.

I re-read it and my answer stands. I will give no consideration to the life of anyone entering my home to do harm to myself or my family. Not for legal expenses, not for jail time and not for a job I might lose, I will shoot and kill the person that which brings contempt for the safety of my family with extreme prejudice.
I was not blaming you, what I was commenting on was I will not give any consideration to anything other than the safety of my family. No one should!!

I don't give a shit about the Minnesota law, which the citizens there are trying to change. I believe in the US Constitution and if that had happened to me, I would find a lawyer with balls and show the assholes in Minnesota that the US Constitution comes first and the state laws come in 2nd. That Patrick Henry said "Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense?" Then I would sue the bastards that put me in Jail! I would sue the state that allows that to happen and I would be very vocal about it! I would create so much hate for a state government that would do that to one of it's citizens that politicians would lose their jobs.
I will not shoot anyone to protect property, but if I feel that my life or the life of family is in peril, I will do what it takes to end that feeling.
Those idiots according to their legal system in that state would have put this kid in Jail and sued the parents.
