They're not THAT bad though, I've used godaddy for my domains for years and have never had a problem.
I would however, NOT recommend them for hosting or the like, but domains, no problem.

As a service, no, they are not bad as a registrar. As a company, they supported SOPA until their users spoke out:

Then they backpedaled. Not really a company that I want to help support. I think they also use sweatshops to manufacture their domains. But that's just what I heard. For all I know, they provide air conditioning.
