login as root
go to imagemagick.org, pick the mirror closest to your server, login to it's ftp thru your box and download ImageMagick5.5.7-9.i386.tar.gz (or like this) to a folder on your box
go out of ncftp (better to use it for browsing ftp sites) type 'tar -xzf ImageMagick5.5.7-9.i386.tar.gz' or whatever filename it would be
tar will create a folder named ImageMagick5.5.7-9 or like this. cd into in and type './configure' then 'make' and finally 'make install'
that's all. easy, isn't it?
