Socks, we use caching on some of our galleries and have had some deleted for pages changing (only thing that actually changed was the cache file was updated). Thus, my guess is your gallery would be disabled for changes.
It's unfortunate as it would beneficial to both parties to have galleries that remained active through comments and social network sharing.
