I understand the cops actions. If you told me I had to confront, arrest, and detain a convicted felon who was considered armed and dangerous, and then instead of him obeying order he jumps out of the car? I would shoot too.
However, I question why he emptied an entire clip into the guy. He could have fired once or twice to stop him and put him down, not kill him. By unloading the entire clip into the guy put him in a bad situation from a combat perspective - There was two other people in the truck plus the wife and god only knows who else... So suddenly he just shot and killed a man but now had to reload.
Anyhow, I don't care much. The family is making this out like he was a "loving father". Seems to me he was a convicted felon who had been to jail three times, and was shot when he failed to follow orders from the police officer when they tried to detain him.
