First, I hope you had your father taken to a doctor to determine he is going senile, and is in need of a guardian. That guardian will likely be you or another family member. There is plenty of information online about the process/paperwork.
Regarding your dads credit, its best that he contacts each of the three bureaus and informs them he wishes to lock down his credit, by "blocking" inquiries. It is free.
