I hear so many bad things about Cake, I personally haven't used it but I have a buddy who is the dev on a pretty big mainstream site and it's built in cake and he is always bitching about it.

Framework wise, I'm CodeIgniter all the way for client work, and my own framework for personal work (Don't trust it for anybody elses stuff right now), and if I ever switched from the two, I'd go with Symfony. FabPot is an awesome dude.
I figured it was like that with Boot and Bon; not worried.

The reason I prefer Cake to some of the other frameworks has less to do about me and more to do with working with others. Cake enforces some fairly strict MVC principles, and doesn't really "allow" cheating. This makes it harder for people to put garbage into the code, although it obviously doesn't stop bad coders from being themselves.

Symfony2 definitely looks promising, although I haven't had a project for it yet.
