No actually none of the girls I work with uses drugs in conjunction with a shoot. none of them are IV drug users or cocaine addicts, a couple smoke pot but not at the session .
Girls do it for a lot of reasons. I've had girls with graduate degrees in subjects they could get work in -- but not at the kind of money they make fucking and sucking.
I have lots of overhead, so does any respectable content maker.
Cameras, computers , lighting (check out how much a set of Dynalites with 3-4 heads costs! Now add in grids, barndoors, snoots, gel holders, etc.) . Lenses are not cheap and neither are bodies. When you get to video, man oh man the money flies out the door! Sure you can shoot crap web content with a point'n'shoot digital and low-end crap consumer camcorder but when you want to go to 3 chip pro camcorder with good dynamic range etc. that's big bucks again.
Studios aren't free either.
