Wndows 8 is not really that bad. As has been mentioned, the "Modern UI" (Metro) essentially is a replacement for the Start Button.
What I did find so far is that the "Metro" interface is not really that bad for personal surfing. However, for business/productivity, I think most will find themselves jumping back to the "classic desktop" or wishing they stayed on Windows 7.
The Apps that come by default, for example the Weather, News, Sports, etc all scroll sideways are are very minimally designed -- and thus load real fast. I think the horizontal scrolling may be uncomfortable for a lot of people. It's clear, very clear, that the emphasis on this was placed with mobile devices in mind.
I found it a royal pain in the ass when using it on a triple display.
Frankly, I can see where MS is heading with this, but I do believe that they'll be waiting a while before businesses adopt it en masse.
