I can't speak for others but when I post lists of the new promotional material we release each week (I do it in the announcements forum) I do it for a couple of reasons. The first is to show what we have to offer to affiliates who may not have heard about our program.
The second is to demonstrate that we are a program that is actively working each week to help our affiliates make money. In this case by showing we do indeed add new tools each and every week.
Communication to affiliates is important but a fact of affiliate marketing is that a lot of affiliates do not even glance at a program's newsletter. I dont know why that is unless there are some that use their e mail database for spamming affiliates. Ours is quite simple. A little bit of news at the top, a request for suggestions to improve our program and then a listing of whatever new tools we are releasing that week... usually galleries and hosted videos. For that reason posting on forums is important to us.
