If I remember correctly (and it has been a while so I might be foggy on the details) there was a big police take down of a CP site in the UK. The police got the names and credit card numbers of all the people who bought memberships to the site. Pete was on that list. I believe there was an investigation into it and at the time he said he was researching a book then later said other things about it as mentioned above.

From what I understand they chose not to charge him with any crimes.
