When this happens do you say that the company ripped off the government for 35 billion in taxes? No, because they didn't make any fucking money. This is basic accounting 101. Sure BP saved $10 billion taxes but they also had to pay $30 billion in clean up costs. Trust me they rather would have paid the extra taxes because that means they made more money.
