Well yes I am very conscious of trying to get the exposure correct for all parts of the picture, although I cannot say that I was as successful with it here as I would have liked. It is a bit more challenging when you are shooting straight into the sun as I was here. The clouds and sea are still blown out in the direction of the sun. I could have brought more detail into the clouds by shortening the exposure but then I'd lose detail in the water and the distant land would have just been a completely black silhouette. You have to sacrifice one or the other. If I was shooting on a MUCH smaller scale scene I would have lit the background with flashes and got everything exposed right.
