I was wrong the other day

There was a posting about McDonald's being the second largest property owner in the world I was tired & drunk and missed the line item on their annual report of $31 Billion of Property & Equipment. I totally fucked up.

But that's $31 Billion of Property & Equipment. If you figure that each of the 4000+ McD's actually owned by McD's has about $1 Million in equipment (stainless stoves) that's at least $4 Billion off the real estate. Those figures are at purchase value. Face it McD's may pay a huge amount for a site in a ghetto, but no way could they get that money if they decided to sell the property.

Now look at Walmart. They claim $159 Billion in Property & Equipment. Even if Walmart only has 25% of their assets in property they still beat out McD's.

Figuring out how much the Catholic Church is worth in land is difficult as they lowball the numbers. But it's almost impossible to value a church that has some great painting on the wall. It's really hard to value their properties. Near me is a center that if they had to sell might bring nothing, but the land would be worth a lot for a housing development.

But truth is the single largest landholder in the U.S. is Queen Elizabeth.

Now granted some are counties, but her and her children, mostly Charles, own huge tracts of land they receive income from.

Anyway., I apologize to all I kept calling people stupid when I should have done a better job of reading.
