I was a close friend of a girl who was doing this in the 80s. She retired in 1991, moved to the South of France to a villa she bought and opened a little shop. She was 23. The shop was to keep her busy as she never needed to work again. To some guys dropping $25k on a girl and taking her for a week to a 5 star hotel in the Seychelles is like buying $30 membership.
Shot a few who were also doing but not as close. They also were making trips to work in Dubai and similar.
Some Arabs and Africans have no concept of the value of money and dealing with them is often strange because of that. Look at some of their car collections.
