I'm a front-end engineer (of my own sites now).
I hate IE.
The problem is the fucking Trident - the IE engine, written in C++.
It seems that Microsoft just don't care about improving the code of his engine to make it read web pages properly. Instead, they prefer to invest time and money in marketing.
Gecko is the Mozilla Firefox engine, and WebKit is the Apple engine, used by Safari and Chrome. Both, Gecko and WebKit have a smart team working on it, and most importantly, they really care about making a better internet. They even help W3C to improve HTML5 and CSS3.
