I'd say to tailor your trip to the time of year. Just know that the people are really friendly and you can have a good time where ever you are.
I remember walking down the street my second day in country and this girl came out and invited me into her home for her father's birthday party. I ended up staying the entire weekend with the family and had a great time. Just be ready to go with the flow.
