You know, thinking back, I'd have to agree. In the small village where I grew up, the house behind us the family were JW. I remember the kids talking about the no celebrating Christmas or birthdays etc. Their parents were down right scary, and used to beat their kids. I remember all 3 of them being terrified.
Then later in life, my wife was doing an art job for a JW, she was going through some medical issues with her daughter and it required a blood transfusion (a big no no in their religion) she took off with the artwork and without paying. About a year later we found it online and she was trying to sell the rights to it.
I just find something shifty about their set up, sort of like the Amway of religions, not coming out and saying who they are right away, they have to do the lead in with the weather or something before getting to the meat of the issue. I will say this, they are getting smarter sending around attractive girls along with the old ones when they go door to door. Even they realize... Sex Sells!
