Contracts are just a con. At least in the UK. It works out MUCH cheaper to buy the phone outright at the start, and get a rolling monthly contract for your minutes and data. I pay about 20 bucks a month for my talk/texts/data and can sell my phone for not that much less than I paid for it each year when I want a new one...
