My almost in-laws are fulltime RV'ers. They both retired at age 55 and have rented out their home in SoCal and now just spend the summer in NorCal where it is cool, and the winter in Phoenix where it is warm, and they go to various places for spring and fall.
They use HughesNet satellite for internet access while in the mountains in NorCal but it is pretty slow and not very reliable. In Phoenix, they use a local broadband wifi provider, and they have a mobile hotspot for other places.
As far as power goes, most RV hookups provide power, water, and sewage hookups. For places that dont (like the upcoming balloon festival in Albequerque) they have a pair of those really quiet Honda generators, plus their refrigerator can run on propane or electricity. Same with their hot water heater.
