And if I want to drive to Denver in my Tesla, I'm screwed.
" The 85 kWh Model S has received a U.S. fuel economy rating of 89MPGe and an EPA rated range of 265 miles."
This statement also means that I could not drive a Tesla from where I live to a GF's place in Oklahoma City and be sure that I can get there without the batteries going flat.
The least expensive version of the Model S STARTS at $49,900.00 and tops out at over $97,000.00 (NINETY-SEVEN-THOUSAND DOLLARS!).
Now just why in the Hell would I want to spend that much money to be only able to drive 265 miles?
SIX charging stations!
WOO HOO!
For two grand I can buy a Slant Six '63 Dodge that will get 28 mpg and is easy to fix if it breaks! Two grand could also buy me old Mercedes 240D that I can run on WASTE OIL!
No high test batteries to fail and burn down the car as has happened to several Fiskers and who says the same thing won't happen to Teslas?
Smoke and mirrors.
What a fucking joke!

in the uk $49k is about £24k.
thats a good price for an electric car.
unless you are a taxi driver or somthing like that 160 miles is probably more than enough.
also fuel is expensive in the uk.
so i could see this selling in the uk.
the problem in the uk is that not everyone has a garage. so charging for a lot of people is not easy.
also i do wonder if everyone went electric cars what the goverment would do as they make a fortune from tax on fuel.
