I was very taken by your post and it brought back long-repressed memories, memories that sometimes I'd like to forget but such memories should never be forgotten. I am very sorry for the loss of your father, am thankful for his service and regret the manner in which our valiant service people were used in the very political way in which they were.
I lost friends in The Nam.
I know the children of friends who died in that war who grew up without fathers and they are still devastated. You availed yourself of nothing that your father did not earn and who deserved even more.
Those who criticize you should get an education about such things and then go fuck themselves really, really hard for a very long time.
