I started noticing a pattern of members signing up with a US persons credit card for example but logging in from Russia or Ukraine. Quite often these credit cards would be in a womans name which is another warning sign that the card details are stolen.
I looked into how many legitimate users were signing up from those countries and there were none at the time, so I decided to block them.
Since then I have seen a 90% (approx.) reduction in file sharing of our content.
The fraudulent signups keep coming through still, but once they remove their proxy to get in the members area Strongbox blocks them.
it may seem like harsh measures for some but it has made my life a hell of a lot easier!
yes that looks good and you are doing a good job. just, maybe those joins were legit, just hackers got in and most of them are still from russia. but, if nobody complained, good for you that you have solution to cut sharing of your content down, keep up the good work!
