Take the site down, the hotlinking stops. At least until it starts happening at another board. Take that one down and so on, and the cycle slows down some.
Every single site that has stolen passwords, stolen content, stolen bandwidth... they ALL affect the industry. It's not just ONE, it's THOUSANDS. Taking down one helps a little. If none were ever taken down there would be a whole hell of alot more of them around today doing damage. Every single one that can be eliminated makes a difference.

Point taken. BUT - instead of the hours wasted trying to take down one site ... wouldn't it be easier just install the right software? If a newbie doesn't do this, it's their problem, not yours.
