I very vaguely remember this law, and I could care less. This is not about politics for me, it's about reality.
The United States has some very strict laws, and frankly it gets in the way of law enforcement. It gets in the way of protecting ourselves and our country. I understand there are reasons for this - legal protections. And that's fine. We passed the Patriot Act, and frankly, nothing has changed. I'm not saying we need to throw away the US Constitution, but we should could make some changes.
This is why I am fine with us holding potential terrorists in Guantanamo Bay. You might say it's "un-American", but the US Constitution does not apply to Cuba or our forces there... Or our military forces around the world. You can also say it's "un-American" to be using drones to kill suspected terrorists in other counties, and you can even say it's "un-American" for us to send a Navy SEAL Team into a foreign country to kill Bin Laden. I sleep good at night really.
