Actually, they're handling this in the only appropriate way. Closing an account is a big thing and I, personally, wouldn't want to host with anyone that locked clients out without a thorough investigation first.
As righteous as you feel your cause is, a bit of cooling off might further things more than striking out at the wrong party. I'm certain that whatever appreciation Phil might have for you bringing this issue to his attention would be more than offset by any unjust accusations made simply because he didn't move fast enough for you.
