I agree that his response was WAAAAAAYYYY out of line hee, but had she approached him and said osmething along the lines of "I know you like that stuff, but maybe not while the kids are in here" instead of coming off as a bitch and going to get scissors to cut the cable line, maybe he might've handled it better.

Both were wrong. Sorry if she's got no self-esteem, and sorry he's an idiot.
