You ask me lots of stuff like I am an oracle, do you actually believe in me?
- So no profit in doing it both ways?
Profit:
1) The (cam) sites with enough customers can make profit themselves, but this is only a few big sites, no way a small (or new) cam site can do profit with a live event, it would be just a loss you can do a few times for advertising purposes.
2) The performers: those few in top page of the top cam sites can do money (even a lot-top myfreecams page is a $20,000 per 14 days period), but this is at expense of the hundreds or thousands of other performers in the lower and last pages who are doing very small, too small. Some solo sites got live shows made obviously for self promotion by its owner or content, but they would not do for same few pennies a same show for a 3rd party site.
Would paysites pay for the facility?
- Yes but only those with many members, and this is becoming rare, trend it is smaller pay member areas, not bigger ones. Some could pay for a while, then see income is too few and give up paying. Also note that only a small % of the people who like prerecorded porn, will like live shows, and by ask access to a member area you keep out some of them, as you need who both want live show and a member area, this is a too tight filter. Usually member areas want the live show for free and even get a % of any private. In fact, we got the cam plugin placed in member areas and we PAY them to have it there
- Would members on paysites tip?
Yes, but as told before, people liking live shows are a different group of people from those liing prerecorded content. So at join page you select those who want member area access, and keep out lots of those who wanted live content. I believe more in live sites on its own, and free access. Free member areas can still grow, or fake free let's say, where it is free but someone pays even if you recommend them not to pay as this is free. This is hard to understand because most would not pay if not forced to, but the sickness of human mind it is endless. Still member areas are normally too small to support a live show, except perhaps manwin member area, or very specifically kink.com for fetish shows. This is not something for the casual adult site to support.
- With the decline of paysites, is it worth bothering with?
New Live shows for paysites: may be worth if done as a multi-member-area platform, where a same live show it is accessed by dozens of programs member areas. There are a few programs doing it since years (include ours, payserve etc.) and I don't see it as growing market anymore. Also each program have own friends and enemies and longstanding cam deals with someone else, so it is not going to be a deal.
There may be space as site on its own, freemium access, an example it is chaturbate, but it could be made more like a big brother, or some more professionalism, even I am unsure this is appreciated (the professionalism).
Just a curiosity, I helped a russian studio to do a cam site where they have 24/7 cams pointed on kitchen, bath tube and such, target it is russian users:
