Missouri is a pretty backwoods state. My cousin lives there. She is a teacher. She married a Jewish guy and converted for him when they got married like 20 years ago. They moved to Missouri about 10 years ago to run a finishing and camping resort. The first year they were there she got a teaching job and by all accounts she did a great job. The kids loved her, most of the parents liked her and things were good, but she did complain about a few things that were wrong in the school. She was not brought back the next year. When she talked to the principle of the school about why she wasn't brought back he told her flat out that they weren't too comfortable with a Jew teaching their kids. She told him she was shocked to hear that because she could sue over something like that. He looked her in the eye and invited her try explaining that "a Jew might have trouble getting justice in this part of the country."
Her husband talked her into letting it go. She eventually got a job at a small private school. One afternoon she overheard one of the parents saying, "I think the school must be good, they got a Jew broad teaching science."
