In Johnny's case a life-jacket would not have saved his life...it would have only extended his ordeal. Being fully submerged in 10-12 degree water he would have succumbed to hypothermia long before we were rescued.

A EPiRB would have been good. Not sure if that is law here or not. I've done some research but it is incomplete at this time.

Until this happened, I had no idea that boats had drain holes. When we realized the extent of the situation there was no time to engage a flare gun or air horn should we have had one of them with us...it happened that fast. I only had enough time to think "don't panic" even though my worst nightmare was about to happen.

Apparently, all Johny had to do was start the motor when he first realized what was happening. When he realized the plug was out it was too late. In hindsight, and my nightmares, it should have been his first thought. Hard to say what was going through his head...I never got a chance to ask him...

Yeah, I sit around and make this shit up everyday. Like I said in the OP the camera is at the bottom of the ocean. I don't have (need) a cellphone. I could borrow one from a neighbor, I suppose. However, if you did a little gfy style sleuthing in conjunction with google maps, you will soon come to the conclusion that it is I.

I really wish it wasn't...
