It's not just because there are less Macs that there are less viruses, but also because OSX is more secure, presumably in large part because it's based on the (Mach) Unix kernel. Also most malware is probably just script kiddies making variations of existing (Windows) 'viruses'.
Macs do get 'viruses' (trojans/malware) though, which is why Apple dropped their claim that Macs are virus free.
