Because the americans are
majority here at GFY. When people discuss the situation in other country, it's always good to compare the things with their own homeland. So it's not to justify (I'm not religious and I don't like Putin). It's to help to understand the things right but not like they are shown on CNN, Fox, RT or any other propagandist "news" channel.
P.S. You are trying to speak about Russia while living in other country (BTW where are you from?) Do you think you know Russia better than me or any other Russian citizen?
