And anyone who comes along with a viable solution likely won't be in a position of power or authority to implement it. It's only natural for responsible people to try and find a solution to the gun problem. Unfortunately, most people feel threatened when the issue is brought up, and they bring up all kinds of ridiculous points to defend their right to carry fire arms.
The 2nd amendment was written in 1791. The only firearms of the day were black powder muskets and one shot pistols. The framers and country folk of the Constitution had no concept of AR-15s, AK 47s, uzies and the like.
Assault rifles were intended to be military anti-personnel weapons. How is it possible for these weapons to be owned by the civilian population for non-military use?
