It's the premise and the terminology.
If I said that the "traditional definition of equality" doesn't include people with black skin, it would become clear. Right? According to old tradition, black people aren't equal, therefore they never had the right in the first place, therefore nobody is denying them rights by not allowing them to vote or marry or own land.
In other words, the very notion that there is some "traditional definition of marriage" is a paper tiger. It's just words used to justify discrimination and exlusion of other equal citizens to participate.
Oh but by the way, it has nothing to do with hating gays. Thats a huge leap in the other direction. You dont have to hate gays to not want gay marriage any more than you have to hate heterosexuals if you support gay marriage.
And yes, this is another entry in my ongoing series of manufactured buzzwords created to divide people. "traditional definition of marriage" is bunk. If you don't want to let gay people get married, grow a pair and say so (not to the OP, but to everyone)
