If Epoch is truly required by law to do this then so would others. Which means sending the info to all the others sponsors as well. Many reputable companies go bad and in many cases we have no idea who really owns the companies in question. It would be a big risk to give ID scans to every sponsor not to mention a hassle.
In my opinion it shouldn't even be legal to require uncensored scans of government ID for such use. Especially not without a clearly defined privacy statement as well as a statement of what exactly the ID will be used for, how long it will be retained, and the names of the principals involved in the company responsible for it's security. Someone needs to be held accountable for the use of information given.
