Webmasters do that all the time or will type the affiliate program url directly because they are just assholes or don't want another webmaster on his tier looking at his stats..
Regular surfers who buy things online also delete ref codes for no reason and there are even browser plugins that strip those codes, too.
If you want the most out of your affiliate links, you have to do tricks and force them in
