Yeah man, I've been paying tax on Amazon for years now.. but if I had to return something it's not like I can drive up to amazon.com store and speak to a customer service desk.
NY state also tries to force companies to track affiliate sales and collect taxes on their sales. That's why you can't be an affiliate of some companies when you're in NY state. They like to pretend that if I put a link up, that I am a brick and mortar store. So it's easy for places like Overstock.com or Amazon.com to just say ok, sorry NY affiliates, you're cut off because your state laws suck dick.
This is a couple years old news for us.. sucks. But I have to admit that I would not regularly tally up my online buys and pay tax on them at the end of the year, which is what we're all supposed to be doing.
