When the dot com bubble popped in the 90's, it wasn't the end of "dot com", it was the end of the fluff, hype and forward looking bullcrap. A lot of the posers went away and real innovators moved up.

The same thing is happening in porn now, the market has definitely changed significantly but more than anything the middlemen are being squeezed out and people who have the ability to vertically integrate are able to continue.

if you just want to sit there and write checks its much more difficult than it used to be. But if you can produce something, traffic, signups, content, then there is still business to be made. Just not so much for those who don't produce anything but want to outsource every element of their business and still stay on top - not really possible anymore.

programs have stopped depending on affiliates and get their traffic from tubes now. Affiliates would be wise to build their own paysites and stop trusting programs with their traffic. Content producers should own their own programs now. Controlling as many of the variables as possible and being your own service provider as much as you can is the only way to progress in this kind of market.
