I love this world view that people have where only the US is playing politics and most western nations don't have agents trying to destabilize the government while most shady nations/groups and anti western groups/governments aren't trying to defeat those who are. Syria, as with Libya or Iraq et al, is little more than a chess board for developed nations and those with economic, security or political interests in the region and an interest in the outcome.
Funny that other developed nations are working furiously to gather intel, help those they have an interest in helping, hinder those they have an interest in hindering and the whole world talks as if only the US is playing the game. Meanwhile, SAS, Iran, Hamas, Mossad etc etc etc etc are in there killing and kidnapping and funding/training.
Also worth noting that almost any dictatorial and oppressive regime blames the "West" and US for all their problems and failure and as they are on their way out.
