Both are a CMS
- Wordpress is by far easier to install and work with than Drupal.
- The default Drupal setup doesn't include a rich text editor in its content-creation screens, so any formatting you want to do has to be in HTML. You can add a module to get that functionality(not easy for new users)
- Drupal requires module installs that are again not so easy for the new user
Drupal 7 has made it so that it is easier to create a Drupal website (in the past you had to pretty much be a coder) and it is expected they will add more user friendly tools.
Drupal is more of a framework CMS, therefore it only grows as developers fix and create things that matter most to them.
Bottom line - WP hands down is simpler to work with especially for newbies.
