What a horrible story. One moment she's having fun and the next moment she's loosing her limbs.
My wife's younger brother died from Lupus; I only met him once. It was in the hospital, where he had been for the past six months. I walked in and asked how he was, and he said something like "Last week I lost my left foot, and two days ago I lost my hand. So far today is looking pretty good because I haven't lost anything". (He died a short time later.)
Some people are just amazing.
