Who are you to make that determination? You don't speak for me, my family or anyone else for that matter.
And also, the public doesn't exist; groups don't exist. "they" as you refer to the government and politicians are individuals ruling over other individuals. When you take away the cognitive dissonance that people experience when they think of "government", it's easier to see the reality of the situation; others ruling others by force.
If you're perfectly fine with accepting the reality of the situation, that you're okay with violent solutions to solve social problems, then OK, you're a statist. Personally, I believe in voluntary relationships.
