This has so many benefits for those taking action, the cost might even be well worth it.

1. As you say it clearly shows these people doing the uploading they're not going to get left alone.

2. It also puts file servers on not notice not to fuck with the plaintiffs. Forget a court deciding yes or no. They don't want this problem down the line. They will do their utmost to avoid it. This might even provide a loop hole in their DMCA protection. So these companies will get their content less pirated on these sites and others.

3. It also deprives many of an income for a few weeks or months. Uploading and spamming it around piracy forums is their job. They have bills to pay.

4. Processors are dragged in. Do they want to be fighting these fights over and over or just drop these guys?

5. It clearly shows the weak points. The money flow.

6. PR. It's telling the customers and affiliates of these companies we will fuck with those that fuck with us.

7. So much nicer than bending over to these ass rapers and just blurting out excuses or saying nothing when asked a direct question.
