I figure our sales are a meta-indicator for the industry as a whole because if webmasters aren't making money and aren't opening new sites, they aren't buying software. We haven't seen any 80% or 90% drop.

Looking at the economy of prime market, real average earnings in the US are down 25% from 1980s-1990s levels. In the last three years, real median household income is down slightly and that matches up with what we see - it ain't the 80s or 90s anymore, it isn't even 2008, but it's not down 90% from 2008.
